What The Heck Are We Doing?

Hello again fans, this is Anna Marie with a regular check-in and to peel back the curtains about what’s going on behind the scenes. The last few weeks of game development are when we really buckle down and things can get a little quiet, so I wanted to make sure we had at least one blog to keep people up to date on what’s going on.

The good news is, the Steam version of Dragon Fantasy: The Volumes of Westeria (formerly Dragon Fantasy: Book I) is DONE, and the 3DS version will shortly join it. We spend the last couple weeks on polish, but the term really underplays what’s going on. First, we played the crap out of the game – some sections need to be played over and over again to ensure as many bugs as possible are caught. Sometimes a flaw will only show itself 1 in 100 times – sounds small until you have 10 000 people playing it and suddenly 100 people are having an issue. Yikes!
Second, we started preparing the promotional material needed for both the press and the various platforms we’ll release on. This week, Adam completed the game trailer that will be used in a variety of places, such as our Steam page and Nintendo pages.

“But wait, why is taking screens and movies part of finishing a game?”

One, rating board requirements! Two, digital distribution submissions! Three, because they’re awesome and we love sharing them!

Our next step is release dates – but because there’s so many factors up in the air (like “will we pass Nintendo’s final QA on the first try?”) we may only know very close to a launch when that will be. But as soon as we know, you’ll know! We’re hoping to announce a release date by Friday. Fingers crossed

So hopefully the next time we have a blog we’ll also have some rad screenshots and even a trailer to show off the awesome new things coming in Dragon Fantasy: The Volumes of Westeria
